Assistant Accountant

Our client is a highly regarded, multi-site automotive business with a strong reputation for professionalism, stability, and long-term staff retention.
They are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in the financial operations of a large, fast-paced automotive environment, working closely with an experienced Financial Controller and a supportive finance team.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and lodge statutory returns including GST, FBT and PAYE
- Oversee payroll processing
- Support and supervise accounts payable and receivable functions
- Assist with HR administration for new starters and employee updates
- Review vehicle transactions and resolve discrepancies
- Process journals and complete balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare periodic vehicle debtor reporting
- Maintain the fixed assets register
- Assist with cash flow reporting and forecasting alongside the Financial Controller
About You
- Previous experience in the automotive industry or a similar high-volume environment preferred
- Strong accounting fundamentals and numerical accuracy
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Relevant tertiary qualification in accounting or finance
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Able to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines
