Description

The New Zealand Airline Academy is the largest flight training organisation in NZ , with bases in Oamaru and Whanganui. We also own and operate our our engineering company New Zealand Aircraft Engineering Ltd and our student hostel Aviators Place. Whilst we have a Chartered Accountant in charge of overall accounts , due to our growth, we're seeking an Accounts Assistant to help with all accounts-related tasks within the group. The position will be full time and based at our facility at Whanganui airport.

About the Role

You will be responsible for: - Operation of Accounts Receivable / Payable system - Meeting GST and IRD reporting and payment requirements - Payroll operation, including process timesheets and leave forms - General Ledger Coding Visa and Bank reconciliations - Management of Public Trust Account invoices - Financial data entry - Assistance with student queries relating to their accounts as required - Other duties as requested from time to time by the Directors

About You

  • At least 3 years’ experience in an accounting/finance related role
  • Self-motivated and can work independently without supervision
  • Have experience working with Xero and MYOB accounting software
  • Strong computer literacy including a transactional accounting system
  • Experience in payroll
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • A self starter
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong customer service ethos
  • Initiative and ability to solve problems.
  • Ability to meet timeframes and deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Flexible “can do” attitude and team player.
  • Comfortable working with different cultures, personalities and age groups
  • Competency working in the Microsoft Office suite of programs
