Meister Solutions Limited is a division of the Meister Group, a growing Southland based business which provides complete end to end engineering and project management services across a variety of construction, civil and energy industry projects throughout New Zealand.
About the role We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team. In this role you will play a critical part in ensuring the efficient operation and servicing of a vast array of plant and equipment.
Based in Invercargill, this is a full-time role typically working 0700 -1700 Monday to Friday, with overtime available. The role will offer the successful candidate variety in their day, and will require the ability to travel as required.
Examples of the duties of this role include:
- Manufacturing & Assembly: Manufacture, install and assemble parts and components for a range of machinery and equipment
- Fault Identification: Diagnose faults and perform overhaul and repair of mechanical parts
- Maintenance & Repair: Maintain, modify, and repair all plant and machinery (including hydraulic and pneumatic systems) according to manufacturers' specifications to ensure optimal performance and lifespan, effectively troubleshooting as required
- Fitting & Turning: Fit, fabricate, weld and assemble components and subassemblies
- Knuckle boom crane operation
- Shutdown Work: Participate in shutdown work as required, ensuring minimal downtime and effective project completion
- Health & Safety: Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety and foster a positive workplace culture, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies
- Site Travel: Travel to various project sites as required
About you We would love to hear from interested and appropriately experienced candidates with the following:
- Trade qualified in the maintenance engineering field e.g. mechanical fitter, fitting and turning, mechanical engineering or similar
- Proven experience in a similar role within the engineering, industrial or manufacturing industries
- Excellent mechanical knowledge and the ability to effectively problem solve
- Class 1 full driver’s license (additional licenses would be advantageous)
- Working at Heights and Confined Spaces (preferred)
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Past experience working within the electricity generation industry would be beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
- Current First Aid Certificate (preferred)
- A positive attitude and a commitment to delivering work of the highest standard
