Lone Star Papanui is looking for an experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team.

This is a great opportunity for a confident chef who knows how to run a busy kitchen, keep standards high, and get the best out of their team.

We’re looking for someone who can lead from the front, stay calm under pressure, and take pride in sending out quality food every service.

About the role

As Head Chef, you’ll be responsible for leading the kitchen team and helping make sure our guests receive the great Lone Star food and experience they expect.

You’ll be involved in:

• Running smooth lunch and dinner services
• Leading, training and supporting the kitchen team
• Maintaining food quality, presentation and consistency
• Managing prep, stock, ordering and kitchen organisation
• Keeping food safety and cleaning standards on track
• Working across all sections of the kitchen when needed
• Following Lone Star systems, recipes and standards

About you

You’ll be someone who:

• Has solid experience as a senior chef, sous chef or head chef
• Can lead a team in a busy kitchen environment
• Takes pride in clean, organised workspaces
• Has strong food safety knowledge
• Is reliable, calm and hands on
• Communicates well with both kitchen and front of house teams
• Wants to be part of a well known New Zealand restaurant brand

A Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is required. A Certificate in Professional Cookery, City & Guilds qualification, or similar would be an advantage, but the right attitude and experience matter most.
