About the Role

This fixed‑term position has become available to cover a 12‑month period of parental leave, with the possibility of an earlier return.

As a Surgical Booking Scheduler, you will provide efficient administrative and coordination support to ensure patients are booked appropriately for surgery and pre‑admission. Your responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining surgical waiting lists in line with national guidelines
  • Coordinating patient bookings within required timeframes
  • Communicating clearly and professionally with patients, whanau, and clinical teams
  • Ensuring accurate data entry into patient management systems
  • Supporting consultants by identifying and escalating issues relating to waiting lists
  • Maximising theatre capacity through effective scheduling

This is a fast‑paced role requiring strong organisation, high accuracy, and a commitment to excellent customer service.

About you

You will bring:

  • Proven experience in administration, scheduling, or customer service (healthcare experience advantageous)
  • Excellent communication and professional telephone manner
  • Strong computer literacy and accurate data entry skills
  • The ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload
  • A commitment to patient‑centred service, confidentiality, and quality
  • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in healthcare
