HR & Administration Coordinator

Excel Scaffolding – Christchurch (Ferrymead Office)

A great opportunity has become available to join Excel Scaffolding as we continue to grow across New Zealand. With branches nationwide, this Christchurch-based role supports our operations remotely across all regions.

We are looking for an experienced HR & Administration Coordinator to join our team. This role is intentionally broad — we are open to candidates who are stronger in either HR or Administration/Payroll, as the role will flex depending on your experience. You will work closely with the wider team to ensure coverage across all functions.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys variety, ownership, and working in a fast-paced environment.

This role is based in our Ferrymead office, working Monday to Friday during standard business hours.

Key Responsibilities:

HR Managing end-to-end recruitment across all branches Preparing employment agreements, variations, and HR documentation Supporting onboarding, inductions, and offboarding Providing first-line HR support to managers and staff Maintaining employee records and ensuring compliance with NZ employment legislation

Administration & Payroll Managing shared inboxes and coordinating communication across branches Providing administrative support to managers and operational teams Data entry and maintaining accuracy across multiple systems Managing weekly payroll processing Handling payroll queries, timesheets, and reporting

Shared Responsibilities Supporting business improvements and internal projects Working collaboratively across all branches nationwide Stepping in to support other functions during peak periods or leave cover Ensuring high levels of accuracy, confidentiality, and efficiency

About You We are looking for someone with a solid foundation who can bring experience and reliability to the role, while being flexible enough to support across multiple areas. You will ideally have: At least 5 years’ experience in HR, administration, payroll, or a combination of these Experience in either: A strong HR-focused role, or A strong administration/payroll-focused role Good working knowledge of NZ employment processes (payroll knowledge highly regarded) Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities Confidence working with systems (Xero experience would be advantageous) A practical, team-focused approach with strong communication skills High level of discretion and professionalism
