About The Salvation Army Whangarei Bridge
The Salvation Army Whangarei Bridge delivers interventions for people experiencing problematic use of alcohol and/or other drugs.
We have a full-time fixed term contract role in Whangārei working with Tangata Whai Ora in a community setting, to reduce the harm caused by alcohol and/or other drug use.
Our services are evidenced based best practice and are known for being people-centred, caring, transformative and responsive**.** We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified Addictions Counsellor for our programme based in Regent, Whangarei.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provision of casework that provides integrated care for those experiencing co-existing problems of addiction and mental health.
- Working within the framework of The Salvation Army Bridge Programme Model of Treatment.
- Delivery of addiction recovery group education sessions
- Delivery of Alcohol and other Drug Brief Interventions
- Implementation of the Salvation Army Bridge Programme Policies and Procedures
Person Specification:
- Degree in Addiction. An alternative qualification or an alternative relevant qualification such as social work, clinical psychology, counselling if there is accompanying evidence of understanding and work in reducing substance related harms.
- A current full NZ driver's licence
- Has experience as a caseworker for Tangata Whai ora experiencing alcohol and other drug issues
- Demonstrates the ability to engage well and motivate change with Tangata Whai ora experiencing the harmful impact of alcohol and/or drugs
- A good understanding of group/individual processes
- Proficiency in computer IT and database systems
- A sound understanding of tikanga
- Excellent co-ordination and administration skills
- Dapaanz (or an alternative equivalent) Practitioner Registration
- Commitment to continuing professional development relevant to addiction studies.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, sharing information, ideas and effective practices while maintaining client and service privacy, and confidentiality
Qualifications
The applicant must have an Applied Degree or other Level 7 qualification in Health Science, Addiction Studies, Counselling or Social Work. In addition, all applicants must hold current professional registration with the Social Workers Registration Board (SWRB), HPCA or DAPAANZ.

Hours of work: This is a Full-time Fixed term contract role of 40 hours per week for 12 months.
The salary range for this role will start at $68,037.77 per annum. This role is covered by the pay equity agreement, and the final remuneration will be dependent on the years of experience that the preferred candidate brings to the role.
