Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? We’re looking for a committed and community-minded individual to join our Board of Trustees.
Big Brothers Big Sisters matches tamariki with safe, positive adult role models, building relationships that support confidence, resilience and long-term wellbeing. As a Board Member, you’ll play an important governance role in supporting the organisation’s strategic direction, sustainability and impact across North Canterbury.
This is a voluntary role with a time commitment of approximately 1-2 hours per month, including attendance at Board meetings and occasional involvement in subcommittees or community fundraising events.
We welcome expressions of interest from people with a range of skills and backgrounds. At this time, we would particularly value someone with experience or interest in Health & Safety, to help support strong systems and oversight as our programme continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the governance and strategic direction of the organisation
- Support and oversee organisational performance and sustainability
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practice
- Provide guidance and oversight in your area of expertise (e.g. Health & Safety)
- Act as an ambassador for Big Brothers Big Sisters in the community
Skills & Experience (Desirable)
- Passion for community development and youth wellbeing
- Governance experience (or willingness to learn)
- Experience or knowledge in Health & Safety practices and frameworks
- Strategic thinking and sound judgement
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
