Description
An extremely rare and substantially sized Kiwiana Plaster ware Art Lamp, from the 1950’s era of Barsony lamps, featuring a graceful nude woman, cleverly stylised sitting with arms up and clasped behind her in a beautifully balanced composition on a solid wooden plaster covered plinth, with her original Gaylite sticker still intact to the base.
We have never come across another of this exact model of Gaylite Lamp in all our years of collecting and this is complete with its original Vintage bark cloth abstract Modernist shade, in vibrant orange/red, black and white, in the most amazingly well preserved condition, intact and completely unfaded.
Gaylite created stylish Lamps for the Mid Century post war market for Modernist Decor and Lighting and collaborated with Crown Lynn and the NZ designer John Crichton, playing a very special part in our NZ design heritage.
In extremely good Vintage condition with no damage, some very tiny indents, nothing noticeable, overall a remarkably well preserved example.
In good reliable working order, all original wiring sound and intact, so this is sold "as is".
Measures 470 mm high not including the shade and 600 mm high including the shade and 300 mm wide across the base.
