A fantastic, rare sideboard by D Meredew Ltd, UK.

A stunning sideboard with lovely proportions, exquisite Rosewood and Tola on a minimalist rectangular frame, designed with super slim lines with mitre fitted drawers and doors for a cleaner look.

Beautiful use of materials featuring folded leather hide handles which adds a clean, unique style. A double sided or finished back piece of furniture that can either be used as a divider in a large room or placed against a wall. There are two cupboards each has adjustable shelving with generous storage, four drawers to the right, the lower of which is double depth - the top contains cutlery dividers with a luscious red baize liner. The frame is slim but very strong as its fitted with concealed thick steel braces & shows quality construction.

Founded by Daniel Meredew in the early 20th century Meredew became known as a high profile, high end furniture company, based in Letchworth, UK for over 75 years. After the war, during which the company produced panels for wooden gliders, they employed a German Designer, Alphons Loebenstein who changed their ethos to a range of modern unit style furniture. Between 50-65 the company's turnover grew and staff numbers rose from 150 to almost 1500. The firm merged with the Bond-Worth Group in 1969, and was later acquired by Stag of Nottingham, also successful during this era. Meredew finally closed in 1990.

Condition: fantastic restored condition a few years back, this has been in a sitting room hardly used for a couple of years now its time to move on so the whole house-lot of furniture is coming up for sale. No faults or repairs past or present - shows beautifully 9.5/10
