Description
Swedish flag not included . This was to be regifted for a wedding present but the bridal couple have asked for money instead , so am selling this unique piece . This mid century leaf plate by Swedish ceramicist Rosa Ljung is simply exquisite .
She was a well known ceramic artist & designer who worked for the Swedish company Deco in Helsingborg , Sweden from 1965 up until her early death at 66 in 1983
The word Svenskthanverk on back refers to skilled artisan craft produced in Sweden .
Her work has always been very sought after and reflects the genuine appreciation Swedes have for nature as well as beautiful form & respect for all things handmade .
The leaf plate was designed as a fruit plate with the texture of the leaves visible and tactile , layered in background of
a beautiful rich deep green .
Swedish ceramics are well known for their depth & richness of colour ( think Rorstrand etc ) .
Its a piece that deserves to sit proudly on your wooden table or kitchen bench .
In vgc this measures 320mm x 220mm and it is approx 60mm high .
Swedes have always had respect for artisan crafted ceramics , in fact for everything handmade , reflecting their values as well as their desire to have practical but also beautiful objects in their homes .
This looks simply gorgeous when filled with green apples , yellow lemons or even red tomatoes & zucchini as shown in the photo . Its a piece that you will enjoy using .
