Description
A very eclectic and unique find, standing. 14cm high this 2-part mold is made from stamped steel, hand-tinned by a tinsmith. The treasure dates to the early 1920’s and was manufactured by the German firm of Heris, Nurnberg. Heris was not as big as the other acclaimed master mould makers like Anton Reiche or Walter, but his designs and choice of subject were really intricate and details for his time. Included a photo showing what some people are asking for online for these: USD$785 = NZD$1335!! This is on the high side however.
This mould features an Easter bunny rabbit or postman, delivering mail or racing on the back of a chicken hen rooster. What a whacky idea.
Potentially suitable for moulding chocolate/candy for the kids instead of toys, or as standout vintage kitchenalia / industrial décor. You may need to verify the metal type used as this was made prior to the industry moved to nickel-clad steel (electroplated sheet), tougher than tin and didn’t require re-tinning.
Vintage/antique metal with age marks on exterior and beautiful patina. Seams align; designed to be clipped or tied when filling. Condition inside is perfectly shiny which is what you want. As with all antique molds: wash, dry thoroughly, and consider a light cocoa-butter pre-coat before chocolate use.
Sides matched and align well, catalogue #455 visible, Easter subject, a perfect addition for home cooking and baking; decorators / house staging, and serious collectors.
Open to offers. Lots more on the way. Once in a lifetime opportunity, get in quick.
