Rare Antique Solid Oak Gee Whiz Luminous Dial Alarm Clock - Circa 1940
I can't find any info on who made this one or any other example of a "Gee Whiz" Clock online so has got to be pretty rare. Looks possibly German but I have had someone say it was by Westclox but can't verify that. It has a very loud alarm hence the title "Gee Whiz".
In Good Running Order!! Keeps approx 3-5 minutes over 24 hours and the alarm function is working perfectly. It is in excellent condition for its age, as shown in the pictures. This one does need a bit of a shake to start!! It has a small and attractive dark stained solid oak art deco case with a serial number "1832 EO" at the base plus a brass plaque that possibly had the makers details on it but have been polished out. The dial is a cream color paper dial with luminous radium Arabic numerals and hands. There is a subsidiary alarm dial at 12 o'clock with the makers logo on it. The dial is marked "Gee Whiz, Luminous". It has a glass crystal supported by the oak bezel that is part of the case. The movement is a keyless wind, alarm clock movement.
Height: 170mm Width: 260mm Depth: 70mm

So when you say it needs a shake to start is this needing attention or working fine? Thanks s****7 (438 • 5:59 pm, Thu, 1 May )Hi, it works great once given a shake to get going. Ideally it should start off the wind but it doesn't affect it running well so just selling as is with that minor issue. Cheers funkybutt (1183 • Thursday, 1 May 2025 )
