A thimble or cellulose filter(sold separately) is filled with a material and placed in the extraction chamber whereas the flask is filled with solvent and heated. The vapor rises and is condensed in the included condenser, dripping back down onto the material. This extracts lipids and compounds using the solvent. Once the extraction chamber is filler, a cleverly designed auto-siphon drains the saturated liquid back into the flask. The process is then repeated onto the same material until the desired concentration is achieved, or until the material being extracted is spent.
