Description

Large English Art Deco, strut clock of 8 day duration from c 1923/5 with amboyna/ burr walnut dial. Complete with winding key in working order.

This stunning clock measures c 23 cm square with a rich deep chocolate veneer dial and frame. The frame is decorated with a brass ball decoration on the inner edge, which sets off the bevelled glass. The polished wooden face has a brass chapter ring with black roman numerals and elegant Deco styled brass hands complete the look.

The heart of the clock is an English movement fitted with a French Jewelled Platform Escapement, Rear wind & adjust movement. The movement is in good order, the clock is running well, however, it begins to lose a little time towards the end of the 8 day cycle.

The brass case is signed but difficult to make out - the movement is engraved English Mvt. with French Escpt. and bears the serial no. 625

The clock has wear and patina consistent with age, the veneer in the bottom R/h corner of the face has a fine crack which has been repaired at some point. I have taken close up photos with a strong light to show the repair, note in stepping back this is less visible.
