Description
This is an original souvenir from the 2002 FIFA World Cup hosted in Korea/Japan. It was mostly sold domestically around the World Cup, and very few (if any) were exported internationally. Unlike the mint coin sets usually issued by the Bank of Korea, this plaque is unique and extremely hard to find for sale in this format (especially in Western countries).
The plaque is a distinctive piece of football memorabilia, holding a set of six Korean coins from 1 to 500 won — including some dated as far back as 1971 and 1988. Today, the lower-value coins (1–5 won) are rarely seen in circulation, making their inclusion in this set particularly special.
The plaque itself is gold-tone metal with a clear hard casing. It features the 2002 FIFA World Cup mascots Kaz & Nik, along with official tournament branding.
