The Sacramento Assayer Hoard Certified by PCGS | 1.5g California Gold Dust, Flakes & Nuggets

This certified pinch of natural California gold originates from the legendary Sacramento Assayer Hoard, a remarkable inheritance that remained with a single family for generations. A few years ago, two elderly brothers from Sacramento decided to part with a unique treasure passed down from their father—an assayer who lived and worked during the golden age of California’s gold trade.

In his career, the Sacramento assayer served local miners, weighing, melting, and refining their raw gold into bullion. Payment for his expertise often came not in cash, but in pure, unprocessed gold—dust, delicate flakes, and small nuggets. Over the years, he carefully hoarded these natural specimens, never converting them into bars, leaving a tangible connection to the era of the California Gold Rush.

When the brothers finally revealed their inheritance, collectors were stunned: dozens of jars filled with authentic California gold, representing decades of assayer payments and the legacy of a craft that required both precision and trust. Each jar was later divided into individual, hermetically sealed cases containing 1.5 grams of genuine gold dust and nuggets, then authenticated and certified by PCGS with a distinctive rust-colored label depicting a miner panning for gold.
