Two carved hardwood African heads of a man and a woman.

These are special examples of a light and dark grained hardwood. In researching, I found a number of possible candidates - the most likely being West African Ebony or Wenge or East African Sandalo or Panga Panga or Southern African Pau Ferro or Chacate. Of these, I came across a similar but quite rare carved head where the wood was said to be Ebony.

They are 26cm and 25cm tall, heavy and in good condition appropriate to a vintage age.
