George Eden, 1st Earl of Auckland, (1784 – 1849) was the English Whig politician and colonial administrator.
Auckland was, three times, First Lord of the Admiralty and also served as Governor-General of India between 1836 and 1842.
The city of Auckland, Mount Eden, the town of Eden (in NSW, Australia) The Auckland Islands, Auckland (Quebec, Canada) are among the many places named after him.
