/ UNUSUAL PRINTER FAULT /
Punch, or The London Charivari, was a British weekly magazine of humour and satire established in 1841 by Henry Mayhew and wood engraver Ebenezer Landells.
Historically, it was most influential in the 1840-50s, when it helped to coin the term "cartoon" in its modern sense as a humorous illustration. It ceased publication in 1992 but was revived in 1996. The final issue was published in 2002.
This is (as printed on the cover): No 1070. Volume the Forty-Second, January 11, 1862.
It is 22.5x29.5cm and comprises 14 pages - all of which are still joined together and have come off the press without being cut and trimmed.
It is most unusual for these to make it to the marketplace as they are usually destroyed.
They are still very readable, of course.
