Elegant antique bar brooch by the WARD BROTHERS, beautifully made of 9 carat rose gold and prong/claw set with a sparkling stone which I believe to be a synthetic ruby. The brooch also features the patent number 177368 and this patent number is attributed to the Edwardian Era (1901 through to 1919).
Measurements: 4 cm long x 4 mm wide
Material: 9 carat rose gold
Weight: 0.91 grams
Hallmark: 9CT WBs Glasgow silversmiths The Ward Brothers produced jewellery from the nineteenth century and were originally based in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Later moving to Birmingham to increase production, they produced Victorian and Scottish designs with brilliant faceted stones.
Condition: good to very good antique condition as pictured, with a safe fastening
