A very rare Edwardian all natural pearl necklace. The use of 18ct white gold and stunning large diamonds is a strong indicator that these were natural. Cultured pearls usually have sterling silver or simple 9ct gold clasps. Pearls that occurred naturally in oysters became extinct in 1896 and are highly prized. All pearls are now cultured and have only a layer of nacre. Strands of pearls continued to be made from natural pearls, mixing them with cultured as the pearls ran out.

There are 82 cream coloured natural pearls 2.7-6.2mm each with medium lustre, rose and greenish overtones. There is wear to the pearls which is expected with some outer layers of nacre worn. I have included close photo's to show the exquisite beauty of these pearls.

It weights 8.1 grams and is 38cm long

A rare collectors piece that could become a family heirloom. This is a choker length string of pearls and the sublime old Euroean cut diamonds H-I in colour VVS2-si1 are in themselves truly beautiful.
