Description
Outstanding vintage sterling silver necklace from Taxco, Mexico.
Weighs a hefty 96.69 grams
Stamped ACA 925 TC-00 T is for Taxco (Mexico) No Mexico stamp, however this is most definitely Mexican, by the stamp configuration C stands for the first initial of the surname of the silversmith Which is the ACA on the top stamp. I have not been able to establish as of yet the silversmith. Mexico has a rich heritage of silversmithing, with a history of generations of silversmiths that are known for their creative designs, intricate silver-work. Taxco, gained its world-wide recognition for its silversmithing in the 1930s, especially with the American architect William Spratling, who moved to Mexico permanently, after the bloody revolution that had raged for a decade between 1910 and 1920. Mexico went through an artistic renewal. People such as Spratling pioneered a new concept in Mexican silver design, alongside Antonio Pineda, Hector Aguilar and Fred Davis, among others.
This necklace has a wonderfully bold design, with each link movable, with interconnected links, each with a leaf-like shape, with lines etched in curved shapes, adjoining with each one with rectangular silver loops, creating a repeating pattern throughout. The clasp slots in with a lever at the top, to open and close the clasp.
Measures in length 48 cm Across 2.1 cm Width just over 1 mm
In very good condition, some very faint patina. Clasp works well and stamps are clear.
