An authentic Edwardian rose gold ring set with a poanamu cabuchon. The applied shoulders are white gold and hand engraved. The use of rose gold and the oval shape of the Pounamu are typical of this period. Pounamu was used extensively in jewellery especially brooches and heart shaped pendants.

This beautiful ring has a simple cut out form to create the claws and mount the Pounamu which has light wear to the top. The Pounamu is 15.5mm long and 9.5mm wide. The ring was most likely worn as a right hand ring and would suit all genders. It is stamped 9ct.

It is currently a size P and is 2.48 grams. It is in good condition with all claws present with some wear to the setting commensurate with it age. A rare piece of history from our early days as an emerging bi-cultural nation. I have never seen another like this and won't be able to replace it.
