Description
Hi there
Up for consideration is this very nice and full bladed Skinner made by BUTLER, SHEFFIELD. The Butler "KEY KNIFE" is a long standing very well known trade mark of Butlers that came into use in 1862 but was first registered in 1681 and is stamped so on the Blade. A very nicely Tapered Tang on this Knife, the Carbon Blade is patina'd up nicely and has escaped any form of harsh sharpening throughout it's blessed life. There are sharpening marks- but minimal and very acceptable.
The Blade as you can see in the photo's is stamped very nicely show the huge Key Knife icon and reads "REAL SHEFFIELD KEY KNIFE", "REG'd A.D. 1681". Next to the Key knife Stamp is the Butler Sheffield under the Crown, England.
Overall length is 10 & 1/2 inches, the blade is 6 inches of that. Original 5 pinned handles are in superb order, as said before this knife has led an easy life and it shows. A very nice Vintage Sheffield here folks.
Thank you for looking and check out my other auctions for some extremely nice Vintage Bowies, and I will be placing some more nice Antique Cutler up throughout the week. Many thanks :-)

I see you are in Napier, I can drop off to you if you wanted. dunconian (837 • Saturday, 17 May 2025 )
