I used to be into military, german especially. I also like hats & collected these. this is one that I have that i've done research on & it looks to be a german police from the state of rhineland-palatinate field type cap. possibly mountain police? from the shape of it? I used to just buy them then store them for my collection. I'd get them from military shows or stores. I used to go to one in queens arcade auckland city but that hasn't been there for a long time now. I can't remember where I got this now. It would have been in the 2000s that I got it from memory

I'd say it is vintage. One search I did said the patch was obsolete now but I'm not sure on that.

a lovely member has given some info I believe I have listed it with the english of Rheinland-Pfalz which is the german equivalent

'It is a Rheinland-Pfalz (Rhineland-Palatinate) Police field cap. The badge is correct, and still in use today. The green piping indicates that it is older pre-80's. These were worn instead of the standard peaked cap, usually by riot police. Caps in this style did not make the transition to the current light-blue/ blue uniforms"

it has the buttons at the front that hold the band on so if undone they can come down I would say like the canadian one I had & have now sold.

the buttons have a dot pattern on them. they seem to be of a silver grey colour

It doesn't have the word police on it but the members helpful research above says it is police related

it has the maker alkero inside & the size 54.
