Amazing, cool, 170 yr old Cane Gun. Unique ? … almost anyway, as NZ had cartridge guns mostly, at time of the Settlers. Incredible to have it’s Shoulder Stock. I’ve recently imported 85 old muzzle loaders from 14 countries. 28g, as same as my 4 barrel gun. Under hammer action works ( I’ll cock it for the photo), so the hammer usually covers the nipples with the Percussion Cap, while being used as a Cane. The bayonet fixed Shoulder stock is a little bit floppy, and just slightly offset ( see photo from above). A distant relative, during WW1, had his Cane Gun, and the Shoulder Stock in his pocket… on his walks in early Napier, (near where the Airport is now), and used his cane gun, as a POACHERS Gun ! If a duck was there… and nobody’s around… BOOM !!
