Description
A complete British Army GS Mark IV Signalling and Sniper Telescope with straps, covers and twin lens. This three draw telescope was manufactures by Dollond of London and was the model type that was introduced in to British and Imperial Army's service from 1915.
The Mark IV model was in use in World War One, the inter war years, into the early part of World War Two. The extended length of the scope is 80cm, and 26.5 cm when closed. The front lens is 5.5 cm wide and the rear eye lens is 8mm wide. The power of the scope is varied by the fitting of a Low" or "High" magnification rear lens. The scope optics are serviceable. There is some wear to the leather work and straps but this is commensurate with the items age. When extended, the tubes are tight. This telescope is a rare example of a complete British Mark IV telescope set.
