How do you know that it is from what you say and not one of the thousands of other engineering items they made after all they have been in business for over 150 years? Can you guarantee that this is specifically from one of their many military items? saltnpepper (44 • 9:50 pm, Sun, 31 Aug )If you Google G&J Weir, you will find that by 1915, they were totally involved in producing armaments at the request of the British Government. It's a historical fact that stocks of war materials and munitions were woefully short. Weir prioritised the war effort above everything else.the demand for material was insatiable. There simply wasn't the machinery nor the skilled workforce to produce anything much for the domestic market. fishplate (1435 • Sunday, 31 August 2025 )It is also possible that there were uncompleted projects begun prior to the outbreak of war in 1914 that would need to be finished.
