RARE AND UNIQUE JEWELLERS LITTLE ESTATE MUSEUM ITEMS FROM DIGS AROUND LONDON THAMES MUD AND I WILL BE LISTING MORE OF THEIR ANCIENT CUT AND POLISHED . Jewellers Estate Museum items from cabinet No. 745 these four are some of the best of the rare items that were dug from the London Thames mud by the estate's son James on one of his last trips to London in the late 1950's - 1960's for a dig and were part of the collection of items he brought back for their little Museum display cabinets of ancient early relic and Roman pieces dug from the London mud, these items are possibly from the Roman occupation era, one is a lovely embossed lion figure holding a flag, the second one is a disc that has what looks like an embossed saint with good detail and has a cross etched into the back which has some sort of enamel on it and could have been part of the front of a book as there were some deteriorated cord pieces attached to a piece of wood that fell apart when discovered and the third piece is a domed flower shape with a small black polished stone in the middle and the fourth one is a raised seven leaf shape, the Thames mud and the dirt was carefully cleaned off all four and displayed in the estates little Museum item No. 745. Some interesting London ( Londinium ) history to read. Beginning occupation of Britain under Emperor Claudius in ad 43, the Roman armies soon gained control of much of the southeast of Britain. At a point just north of the marshy valley of the Thames, where two low hills were sited, they established Londinium with a bridge giving access from land to the south. The first mention of London refers to the year ad 60 and occurs in the work of the Roman historian Tacitus. Please view pictures all questions answered for you.
