Description

Beautiful Georgian key in excellent condition roughly 200 years old. These keys were initially cast and then turned on a lathe. The ward or bit that goes in the door was then cut by hand using files by skilled tradesmen.

These were typical of what you get in the houses on large estates in England. Was talking to a lady from Scotland a while back and she said her front door key was just like this one and she had a Minor House in the Highlands of Scotland.

8 inches long and weighs 363 grams.

Other bits not part of auction. Victorian padlock and Victorian Bow corkscrews for those interested. More to come in the tin. French and English.
