INTERESTING UNIQUE JEWELLERS LITTLE ESTATE MUSEUM ITEMS FROM DIGS AROUND LONDON THAMES MUD AND I WILL ALSO BE LISTING MORE OF THEIR ANCIENT CUT AND POLISHED KAURI AMBER/GUM ITEMS. Jewellers Estate Museum item from their display cabinets that were dug from the London Thames mud by the estate's son James on one of his last trips to London in the late 1950's - 1960's for a dig and were part of the collection of items he brought back for their little Museum display. This is an interesting pocket watch key that has a facet cut Topaz attached as a swinging fob item, the key is steel and has a size 6 or 7 winding square and measures just over 1.1/4 inches long with a swivel fitting in the middle with the Topaz attached, the key was rusty and the fob was covered in black Thames mud both have been carefully cleaned and are now in lovely condition, ideal for winding pocket watches or even worn as a unique pendant item. The estate dates this piece to late Victorian probably around 1900. Some interesting London ( Londinium ) history to read. Beginning occupation of Britain under Emperor Claudius in ad 43, the Roman armies soon gained control of much of the southeast of Britain. At a point just north of the marshy valley of the Thames, where two low hills were sited, they established Londinium with a bridge giving access from land to the south. The first mention of London refers to the year ad 60 and occurs in the work of the Roman historian Tacitus. Please view pictures all questions answered for you.
