This lovely antique sculptured miniature from their cabinet number 308 is a late Victorian Kauri amber/gum piece in the shape of a truly special pear fruit and has stunning large sterling silver leaves at the top which are enameled in green, it has lovely orange and yellow colours and swirls within the clear Kauri amber, it was bought by the estate Grandfather from a collection of Kauri in Auckland in the 1950's for the estates Museum display of miniature Kauri amber/gum items, notes from the estate also mention the name Pavletich a Dalmation gum digger who dug Kauri gum from around the great Tane Mahuta so it is probably one of his pieces cut and polished Circa 1890 --1900. The leaves and the stalk were jeweller tested as solid silver. Glass paper was invented in London 1883 by John Oakey and Victorians used to polish things like Kauri amber.
