Description
An original Victorian pounamu toki pendant that is capped in 15 carat yellow gold (unmarked, tested). The toki is a traditional Maori design denoting strength, courage, and wisdom.
The pounamu on this particular piece is of a very high quality (we have been buying, selling, and assessing jade for almost two decades). Out of light, it is a dark green that is almost uniform and the polish is extremely high. Likely hand finished with no directly noticeable tooling marks. It will have taken a lot of effort. Within direct light, the pounamu turns a lighter green with beautiful striations and matrices revealed within the gemstone.
The gold cap is Victorian gold featuring delicate engine turning on the sides and hand engravings on the obverse and reverse.
One of the nicer examples we have seen.
Weight: 5.66 grams Length: 4.6 - 4.7 mm
In fantastic condition, jump ring may need re-soldering if you would like to wear this daily. We will include a gold plated, sterling silver chain with the pendant.
