Vintage Feltex Picture Rug of 'Mt Egmont'

Vintage floor rug depicting Mount Taranaki, coated in snow, with a rural farm scene in the foreground. Feltex Rugs started producing rugs with iconic landmarks for the tourist trade. In the 1960s and '70s, they became part of a greater cause to celebrate New Zealand scenery and culture.

This rug was gifted to my family by the district we lived in when we left Taranaki in 1973 and welcomed people into our home first in Waikato, then Auckland and finally Hawkes Bay, for almost 50 years.

In very good condition for its age and use. It is worn, as would be expected, but has no 'worn out' spots. I have had this professionally cleaned. There is some slight staining on the left side between the Maunga and the sun which may improve by spot cleaning. Edges of rug are in excellent condition. Photos are unfiltered and give an accurate picture of what it looks like today.
