1843 Illustrated London News — “View in the New Plymouth Settlement, New Zealand”
A rare and original 19th-century wood engraving published in The Illustrated London News on 30 December 1843, depicting an early colonial scene in Taranaki — New Plymouth Settlement with Mount Taranaki / Egmont in the background.
This historic image is one of the earliest published illustrations of the New Plymouth settlement and the New Zealand Company’s activities. A superb piece of Aotearoa / New Zealand colonial history, ideal for collectors, historians, or for framing as a unique wall piece.
