#HERE NOW SPRING BARGINS# Butterflies Antique Hand Coloured Framed Engraving (A) Original hand-coloured steel engraving by understood to be disbound from The Museum of Natural History published about 1860 by William Mackenzie. This publication was a catalogue of the Museums holdings at that time. The engravings and hand colouring are by JW (Joseph Wilsom) Lowry from a drawing by Nathaniel J. Holms The butterflies illustrated are Catagramma, Apatua, Ornithopter, Heliconia, Epicalia. JW Lowry was an English engraver who was trained by his father, engraver Wilson Lowry He exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1829 and 1830. Frame is 478mm x 302mm Image area is 258mm x 170mm Frame, glass, matte are in very good condition, the engraving has some age spots and minor foxing consistent with age. Professionally framed and mounted ready to hang.
