The embroidered silk postcard was a common means of communication and a souvenir of the First World War. They are blank postcards onto which an embossed paper surround has been glued, to frame and hold a central piece of silk. On the silk, a design is hand-embroidered in coloured thread. In this example, the silk is in the form of an envelope, and there is a tiny card in the envelope reading "Souvenir". The back has not been written on. Excellent condition.
