Extremely RARE Car Badge CORONATION of King GEORGE 6th & Queen Elizabeth 1937
I have seen ONLY TWO of these Coronation Car Badges in 27 years of actively combing British antique fairs, markets, boot sales, and antique & collectables auctions.
The other was mounted on a Rolls-Royce Limousine, one That had participated in the Coronation proceedings and was "NOT FOR SALE"
I do not know why they're so RARE?
But I can only GUESS that they were NOT SOLD to the general public as souvenirs, and were "issued" ONLY for display on official vehicles involved in the 1937 Coronation motor parade
I have copied a SOLD Bonham's auction where (a different design car badge) for the same event is NOTED BY Bonham's to BE "One of a very limited number produced to commemorate the coronation of King George VI on 12th May 1937"
Their (different, but likely equally Ltd. # production) example sold under the hammer Eight years ago FOR £475.00!
