Description
So small yet so rare. A real rarity for Royalist Monarchy collectors. George V memorabilia. Many anointing spoons were made to commemorate the coronation held the next year in 1911. Only a few makers were approved to make these & they varied greatly in size , design & to a certain degree the metal content. The miniature spoon is reasonably scarce in gilt on silver but the pendant spoon is rare & this one is even rarer due to the fact it also has George V inscribed between the maker mark & Purity , town & date letter stamp. You rarely see these pendants. Maker mark for Adie & Lovekin Ltd. Marks for Birmingham, sterling silver & 1910. Gilt on Silver & jump ring also with Lion Passant. There is gilt wear in the typical handled wear areas but still retains Approx 70% of the gilding. Length 36.9mm including jump ring. Weight 0.88gr. Royal historian collectors will know the value here. NOTE: The last photo shows the pendant matched with the same era 15ct Barrel clasp chain to give an indication if worn as a necklace, the chain is NOT part of the auction sale.
