Description
This auction is for a vintage pickaxe with its original handle. It has a part name on the axe which reads …LPIN 7. A knowledgeable person who knows pickaxes told me the pickaxe is a Gilpin brand. The pickaxe measures 62cm across the head and it is 90cm long. It is overall a very solid axe. It weighs 3930 grams.
Gilpin pick axes were made in Cannock, north of Birmingham, England. William Gilpin's firm operated two works near each other, Churchbridge Works and Wedges Mills. The company operated from as early as 1834 to 1946.
Please see detailed photos as part of the description.
Pick up is in North New Brighton, Christchurch. I am happy to post the pickaxe but because of its weight and length I suspect it would be expensive to post. Happy to give a postage estimate if I was supplied an address.
I understand life is busy but I would appreciate contact from the auction winner within three days of winning the auction, many thanks.
