Restored vintage “Sheffield” stamped Kent axe/ hatchet head.

Approx measurements: Blade: 100mm Butt to blade: 145mm Weight: 500grams.

fully restored vintage “SHEFFIELD” stamped Kent pattern axe head, It is in great shape, having no chips, cracking or mushrooming I have added a dark patina by using a cold bluing process with an old family recipe. this provides the axe head with a rust protection layer and gives it its dark appearance which looks great when on display. I have left the patina running all the way to the very tip of the blade, so the winner of the auction can decide whether or not to sharpen the axe slightly which would reveal the shiny steel of the blade underneath, or keep as is. This is a nice collectors piece.

(If you are wondering if there is a crack in the dip between the Kent tips and blade, it is not a crack, that is a manufacturing mark from steel fold where steel meets again after wrapping around the handle creating the eye of the axe head.)

*this is the first time this axe will be sold in Nz marketplace, as is the case with 99% of my axes. have gathered most from the uk and USA over the past 15 years. I will be letting go of quite a large percentage of my axe and hatchet collection here on trade me, all types of patterns and origins and quality's (from mint to Rusty).
