Description
A small original 1985 oil on board landscape painting titled "Lake Te Anau, Fiordland" by the Blenheim artist P.J. O'Sullivan.
P.J. O'Sullivan is a prolific landscape artist and many of his works are mounted with an oval surround. With this fine example, the visible image measures 23cm by 19cm and it's frame 34cm by 28cm. The painting features a motorboat being driven, a sailboat and an area of lake shoreline with high mountains in the background. The painting also has an oval gilt rim around it.
Lake Te Anau with a surface area of 344 sq km is the second largest lake in NZ. However, it has a maximum depth of 417m(c.f. Taupo's 186m) and is actually the largest lake by volume.
The artwork is in good condition.
