An original signed vintage painting on board by Joy Friis with a condition issue - there are some surface scratches visible(see photos), mainly top left.

The artist's signature appears in the bottom right corner and on the back there is some detail including the date 1901 in two places. However, I would date this artwork to the 1970s or thereabouts.

The painting feels quite smooth to the touch, perhaps acrylic rather than oil and I have seen another similar Joy Friis painting being used as a tray - suggesting that there may be a protective coat. Certainly there is something very tactile about this particular artwork. I've come across other examples of her work described as naive - I would describe this landscape as having a simplicity and lightness with a requisite content rather than substance.

The visible painting measures 55cm by 34cm(the frame 58cm by 37cm) and it's able to be hung.
