Description
Two original signed NZ watercolour cartoon illustrations by T Trend.
Complete with "Best Wishes" and signatures, it would seem an "Eddy", a bit of a 'rower', was leaving the State Services Commission(presumably Auckland) bound for the State Services Commission Office in Christchurch and these two cartoons were presented to him on that occasion. In addition, there's a copy of another cartoon image(unsigned?) referring to the wedding of Geoffrey Kenneth Harriman and Kay with a link to car racing(rallying).
My research has revealed some information: The cartoonist is Terence Michael Trend(1929-1987) who was born in the UK and became a naturalised NZer in 1980 and whose occupation was draughtsman, in Auckland. Geoffrey Kenneth Harriman(Auckland) married Patricia Kaye about 1979-80 and he has been involved in car racing for decades. At some point he also was a draughtsman, but set up his own drainlaying business about 1982. Unfortunately, the identity of "Eddy"(Edward) remains a mystery.
The cartoons are on card, measuring 35cm by 23cm and 42cm by 29cm. They are both in good condition. The paper copy measures 33cm by 21cm and it's in 'average' condition.
