Description

An antique etching titled "Venice(St Marks)" by James Alphege Brewer(1881-1946), but with a distinct condition issue - namely, there are a lot of spots behind the glass and on the mount surround. The etching itself is okay, but certainly not the best impression. The etcher's signature and title appear in pencil beneath the etching.

James Alphege Brewer was born in London and spent most of his professional life in Acton. He studied at the Westminster School of Art and exhibited with the Royal Academy and was a member of the Ealing Art Group founded in 1910. His specialty being etchings and watercolours featuring UK and European cathedrals and churches.

The visible etching measures 21cm by 15cm and the frame 36cm by 43cm. I imagine you will prefer to have the artwork reframed with a smaller mount surround and frame.
