Description
A framed vintage print of the icon image known as "Our Lady of Perpetual Help". The original is reputed to date to the late 14th or 15th century and it features the Virgin Mary carrying Jesus. Above are the archangels, St Michael and St Gabriel and between them, they are carrying a cross, nails, spear and a vinegar soaked sponge. Mary is pictured as very, supportive and comforting, deep in thought, realising the significance of the scene. Jesus has a broken sandal, indicating he's divine and not bound by earthly things.
Certainly an interesting and decorative object.
The visible print measures 30cm by 39cm(the frame 44cm by 53cm), it's protected behind glass, in good condition(minor scrapes to frame), quite heavy and ready to hang.
