The different strips are illustrated by Robert Crumb, Victor Moscoso, Robert Williams, S. Clay Wilson, Gilbert Shelton, Spain Rodgriguez and Rick Griffin with a wide cast of zany characters including Mr Natural and many others.

In New York two booksellers were convicted in 1970 for selling this comic, and Zap #4 became the first comic book in history to be found legally obscene. The strip "Joe Blow" by Robert Crumb became the most notorious comic strip in the history of Zap Comix and led to the comic being virtually banned from retail sale throughout America for almost a year.

This comic is complete and in very good condition throughout with no marks, creases, tears or any other damage. The black and white strips are all still bright and clean. The cover has some surface and edge wear. The original owners name is written in ink in the corner of page one. Overall this is a very good readable copy
