The book is very large measuring 49.5cm wide x 28.5cm high approximately. It is in extremely good condition for its age with some marks on both front and back covers as per the photos. There is also a very small bmp on one edge and a scuff on the rear cover. The end papers in the front of the book have separated at the spine but remain firmly in place. The pages throughout the book are very clean. There are 14 Colour Lithographs of New Zealand regions throughout the book, each having its own story beautifully laid out by Edward Wakefield (Also By Various Writers) and including a fold out lithograph of the Tarawera Eruption. The only Black and White Illustration is of The Waitomo Caves. The book tells of the very early days of the colonisation of New Zealand in which Eward Gibbon Wakefield (Celebrated Author of the Art Of Colonisation) and his younger brother Colonel William Wakefield formed the New Zealand Company to bring in the first band of settlers to the shores at Port Nicholson. The colour lithographs are : Auckland Harbour. The Town Of Napier, The City Of Wellington, The Town Of Wanganui, The Town Of New Plymouth, The Town Of Nelson, The Town Of Greymouth, Lyttleton Harbour, City Of Christchurch From The Cathedral, Oamaru, Dunedin, The Pink Terraces, White Terraces and the Tarawera Erruption.
