Schaffer & Budenberg Precision Engineers - A History 1850-1991 by Caroline Budenberg
Illustrated hard cover book in very good condition- published by Caroline Budenberg in 2021 - 374 pages - colour and b/w photograph
Schäffer & Budenberg: Precision Engineers charts the history of this once global company, the families that built it, and the instruments they made.
About the book: Written by a descendant of one of the founders, and pieced together from the remaining company and family archives in England and Germany, the story follows the company as it rises and falls with the social and economic conditions of the era. It references the history of Europe at a time when the industrial revolution was reaching its peak, and as the company grew to become a global entity with factories from Brooklyn to St. Petersburg, and offices and agencies from Buenos Aires to Vladivostock, Johannesburg to Toronto.
It follows the fortunes of the families and company as it splits in half as a result of the First World War, and the English branch that was formed – The Budenberg Gauge Company and which is still running today.
